Why are the Olympic Games important to the world?

This term we will be learning about the Olympic Games. Our big question is

'Why are the Olympic Games important to the world?'.

Here is what we think....

  • Every four years everyone gets together and they don't fight. Bridie
  • The Olympics is a time when we get together and there is peace and we participate in events. Riley
  • At the Olympics everyone competes together. Adol
  • People share their talents. Sienna
  • Everyone in the world can get together and have lots of fun at the Olympics. Keira
  • People can learn new things. Kitty
  • Inspires us to become athletes. Cooper
  • The Olympics teach us how to be good sports. Peter
  • So people can visit different countries. Angus
  • It's not about winning but about having fun. Aerodyne
  • People learn about different countries. Maria
  • So the countries don't fight and we can be happy together. Brandon

Why do you think the Olympic games are important to the world?

  1. Hi Junior S and Mrs Swann,

I think that you have all captured the spirit of the Olympic games with your thoughts. Talented people from all over the world come together to share their skills. Many volunteers help to make the games a great success - so it is not only the athletes who show their commitment and energy.

The opening ceremony was so creative and a wonderful display of all that London has to offer.

You are right - the Olympics gather us together to share in an amazing adventure - so that countries 'don't fight and we can be happy together' (thanks Brandon).

    Great reflections Junior S!

  2. Great reflections, Juniors. I really like all of them but Aerodyne's reflection is special because she shows that being involved and enjoying the occasion is the most special part of ll.
